Shyikh Mahdi is a corporate lawyer and independent research and translation consultant. He is currently working as an associate at Vertex Chambers, one of the leading law firms in Bangladesh. Aside from the legal practice, he consulted various organizations including UNICEF, Save the Children, GiZ, and USAID’s Justice for All program. He is the founder of FutureLaw, a platform focused on innovation for sustainable rule of law and access to justice in Bangladesh, and the founder-publisher of ‘Punorpath’, a quarterly Bangla journal on politics, philosophy, and education. He published peer-reviewed articles in local and international journals, contributed to the World Bank’s Doing Business Index (for Bangladesh), and wrote articles for the daily newspapers on a regular basis.
He holds an LL.M. in Commercial and Corporate Law (with Distinction) from the Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom and LL.B. (Honours) and LL.M. from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is enrolled as an advocate at Bangladesh Bar Council and admitted as an associate (ACIArb) at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrator, United Kingdom.
